WHY CUS?

Leadership Development and Professional Networking

Build skills now that last well beyond graduation.

  • Hold a real leadership role. Chapter offices and regional and national positions let you lead teams, manage budgets, and plan events.
  • Plan and run programs. Organize educational events for your campus and gain hands-on experience in project management and public speaking.
  • Attend national events. The NLC, Regional Events, and the Awards Banquet connect you with sisters and leaders from across the country.
  • Grow your network. Meet sisters across chapters and regions who can open doors for internships, jobs, and graduate school.

Service and Philanthropy

Make a difference in your campus and community.

  • Support Girls Inc. Every chapter raises funds for our national philanthropy, which inspires girls to be strong, smart, and bold.
  • Join an annual national project. Past projects have supported causes like St. Jude, the American Heart Association, and the HLA Bone Marrow Registry.
  • Choose local causes. Chapters pick service projects that matter on their own campuses and in their own communities.
  • Log real impact. Our chapters complete hundreds of service hours across the country every year.
  • Be recognized. Your efforts are acknowledged by your university and by the Board of Directors.

Cultural Pride and Sisterhood

Celebrate who you are, with women who get it.

  • Embrace your heritage. CUS was founded by Latina women, and our culture is part of everything we do.
  • Build real bonds. Our sisterhood values family, individuality, and collaboration, and you don’t have to fit a mold.
  • Join meaningful conversations. Programs like Blatino, Platanos and Collard Greens, and Political Jeopardy tackle culture, identity, and politics openly.
  • Find your family away from home. With 70+ chapters from Boston to Miami and Tucson to Ann Arbor, there’s likely a chapter near you.
  • Unite across chapters. Corazones Unidos Siempre: Hearts United Always.

Academic Support and Scholarships

Our motto is “Wisdom Through Education”

because success in the classroom matters here.

  • Stay accountable. Members maintain minimum cumulative and semester GPAs, so you’re surrounded by women who take their studies seriously.
  • Learn beyond the classroom. Every chapter hosts educational programming on educational, cultural, political, and social awareness.
  • Study with sisters. Connect with members who share your major, your classes, and your goals.
  • Prepare for what’s next. Use your leadership experience and network to support grad school and career plans.

Lifelong Alumnae Network

Your membership doesn’t end at graduation.

  • Belong for life. CUS is a lifelong commitment, not just a college experience.
  • Stay connected. Alumnae members continue to take part in the sisterhood after graduation.
  • Give back. Mentor undergraduates, support service projects, and help shape the future of CUS.
  • Keep growing. Alumnae sisters across the country can offer career advice, referrals, and friendship.
