We, the members of Chi Upsilon Sigma Latin Sorority, Incorporated, aware of the prejudices and obstacles facing the minority women of our communities, dedicate ourselves to improving these conditions and to working towards the betterment of all women. We have unified ourselves through the sisterhood of Corazones Unidos Siempre and by our Founders’ ideals of open communication and community service, as well as the development of political, educational, cultural and social awareness. We devote ourselves to this challenge to be achieved through hard work, patience and the collective effort to educate, as is exemplified in our motto, ‘Wisdom through Education’.
Welcome to our online home.
Whether you are a current member, alumna, community partner, or someone interested in learning more about our sisterhood, we are so glad you’re here. This website reflects who we are as Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Incorporated — a values-based organization committed to educating, elevating, and empowering women and our communities.
Founded in 1980 by seven Latina women at Rutgers University—New Brunswick, our sorority was created in response to the prejudices and obstacles facing minority women. Guided by our Founders’ ideals of open communication, community service, and collective effort, we remain dedicated to the betterment of all women through education, leadership, and service. Our motto, “Wisdom Through Education,” continues to ground our work and our purpose.
Rooted in our values of sisterhood, service, leadership, and character, and unified through Corazones Unidos Siempre, we honor our history while continuing to grow and evolve with intention. We believe meaningful change happens through hard work, patience, and a shared commitment to learning and action.
I invite you to explore our story, connect with our mission, and learn more about the women who bring our values to life.
Explore. Connect. Learn how we continue to educate, elevate, and empower — together.
With pride and in sisterhood,
